Queue connection not configured
Error Message
InvalidArgumentException: Driver [redis] is not supported
Cause
The queue driver specified in QUEUE_CONNECTION (.env) is not installed or configured. Common when using Redis without predis/predis package.
Solution
Install the required queue driver package. For Redis: composer require predis/predis. Or switch to a simpler driver like 'database' for development.
Code Example
Fix
# Install Redis support
composer require predis/predis
# Or use database queue (simpler)
QUEUE_CONNECTION=database
# For database queue, create the jobs table
php artisan queue:table
php artisan migrate
# Start the worker
php artisan queue:work
Debugging Steps
- Check QUEUE_CONNECTION in .env
- Verify the queue driver package is installed
- Check the queue configuration in config/queue.php
- Test the queue connection with tinker
Prevention
Install queue driver packages before configuring. Test queue setup locally before deploying. Use the database driver as a fallback.
