Class 'App\Models\X' not found

Error Message

Class "App\Models\User" not found

Cause

The model class has not been imported in the file that references it, or the model file does not exist at the expected namespace path.

Solution

Add the correct import statement at the top of the file: use App\Models\User;. If the model doesn\'t exist, create it with php artisan make:model.

Code Example

Fix
<?php

namespace App\Http\Controllers;

use App\Models\User; // Add this import
use Illuminate\Http\Request;

class UserController extends Controller
{
    public function index()
    {
        return User::all(); // Now works
    }
}

Debugging Steps

  1. Check the use statement at the top of the file
  2. Verify the model file exists at the correct namespace
  3. Run composer dump-autoload to regenerate the class map
  4. Check for typos in the class name

Prevention

Always import classes at the top of files. Use your IDE's auto-import feature. Follow PSR-4 namespace conventions.
